Soil Stabilisation | Market Drayton
Soil Stabilisation at Market Drayton
We were contacted by McPhillips (Wellington) Ltd about a large site they were working on in Market Drayton and asked to offer our advice and recommendations on Soil Stabilisation solutions for the development.
After visiting site and collecting samples of the material we produced a mix-design which would suit the end product requirements in a cost effective and environmentally beneficial way.
What Was Done
Once a mix-design had been established to determine binder content works commenced on site. The contract saw us Lime Modify some 30,000 sq.m. of Sub-Grade and Fill Material to achieve a CBR of 5% and then Cement Stabilise the top 300mm (circa 20,000 sq.m.) to provide a Stabilised Capping Replacement with a CBR in excess of 15%.
Due to the open area and no dust sensitivity issues, we were able to use a traditional Soil Stabilisation method of applying the binders with a TerraGator Spreader and then incorporating using a Wirtgen WR2500S Mixer. This approach meant that a higher daily output of material treated could be achieved, keeping the contract inline with a tight programme.
The treated areas were compacted using our new Hamm H16i Roller, trimmed using a GPS Dozer and then had a Bitumen Emulsion Curing Compound applied.
