Soil Stabilisation at Droitwich
This new development at Stonebridge Business Park in Droitwich is the latest of many projects where we have carried out Soil Stabilisation works for John Sisk and Son.
The project, which we carried out Soil Stabilisation works on over 2 phases, was to produce a new distribution warehouse for Vax Ltd.
What Was Done
The specification we were provided with was to Stabilise some 33,000 sq.m. of material insitu to provide a Non Frost Susceptible Sub-Base Replacement with a CBR of 30%. Sampling and laboratory analysis of the material was carried out and a binder addition was established, determining the amounts of Quicklime and Portland Cement needed to meet the specification.
When works commenced on site, we used a traditional Soil Stabilisation technique of applying the binder to the surface with a TerraGator Powder Spreader and then mixing into the material with a Wirtgen WR2500S Mixer. The entire site was then compacted and trimmed to tolerance using a GPS equipped Dozer.
Despite adverse weather conditions the contract ran to programme with works finishing on time and to specification.
