Soil Stabilisation in Wales
The contract, which we undertook for Adonis Construction, was for an AD Plant in Waen which was being developed by Biogen Ltd for the North Wales Consortium of Councils.
The AD Plant, once completed, will process on average 22,500 tonnes per year and will provide sufficient power for 1,500 homes continuously.
The works carried out by ourselves involved a Bulk Earthworks operation across the site prior to Lime Modification and Soil Stabilisation taking place.
Once the Earthworks Operation had been carried out all of the Bulk Fill material was Lime Modified to achieve a CBR of not less than 5% with the surface material being Lime + Cement Stabilised to provide a Capping Replacement with a CBR of not less than 15% and a Sub-Base Replacement with a CBR of not less than 30%.
The treated material was then compacted, trimmed to tolerance and bitumen emulsion curing agent applied to the surface.
Compliance testing was carried out throughout the entire operation to confirm that the required specifications had been met.
