Lime Stabilisation | Daresbury Park, Daresbury
Lime Stabilisation at Daresbury Park, Runcorn
The area to be stabilised was part of a Marshalls plc development which has been ongoing over several phases, with business units being constructed throughout Daresbury Park.
Our team had worked with the earthworks contractor (EWS) on several other Marshalls projects in the past and this led to EWS contacting T R Stabilisation about carrying out the Soil Stabilisation works on this phase of Daresbury Park.
What Was Done
Samples were collected and an initial mix design carried out. Lime Modification works to CBR 5% were required along with a Lime and Cement Stabilised Capping Replacement to CBR 15%.
EWS excavated the material from the site, placed into stockpiles and then laid the material down in 300mm layers ready for us to treat with the the addition of Lime for the Modification works or Lime and Cement to form the Capping Replacement layer. The lime/cement was applied to the area using a tractor towed Streumaster Spreader (with spread checks being carried out to confirm correct powder additions). This was then incorporated into the material using a Wirtgen Mixer.
Once the material had been treated it was compacted ready to be laid with stone by EWS.
Compliance testing was carried out throughout the contract to confirm that the required CBR's had been achieved.
