Soil Stabilization in Sweden

To add to our “Soil Stabilization around the world” set of articles and publications, I found this one today from the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural resources engineering at a university in Sweden about Soil Stabilisation methods and materials.

The article looks at the different methods and materials which can be used to stabilise unsuitable soils rather than carting the weak soils from site and importing expensive aggregates.

The article discusses many aspects and techniques of Soil Stabilization, including:

  • Determining the design load and function of the structure, type of foundation to be used, bearing capacity of subsoil
  • Deciding which method of soil stabilisation is the most suitable (including cost and environmental benefits)
  • Carrying out the correct initial design for the mix
  • On site testing throughout the process to determine specifications have been achieved

The article also looks at the different powders that can be used along with the different methods and techniques of incorporating the powders.  Have a look and let us know what you think.  If you find any other articles on Soil Stabilisation around the world then please feel free to share them with us.
